Fat Loon Farm emerged from a shared dream and a fishing trip. As we canoed past loons in Saranac Lake, our dreams of starting a farm at ages 21 and 22 began to feel a bit more real. We didn’t catch much, but carried our ideas to shore and brought them back home, onto paper, and into the ground –  making Fat Loon Farm a reality in October of 2024.

ABOUT FAT LOON FARM

Our names are Marley Jordan and Zoey Womick, and we met farming together at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. We quickly bonded as loonatics about farming and our shared dreams and drive to make them a reality. Owning and operating Fat Loon Farm so soon would not be possible without support from our incredible farm manager at VYCC. Thus ensued months of working amongst ourselves, with our community, and with land owners to lease land and start Fat Loon Farm.

This is our first season growing on our very own farm. Fat Loon is a half-acre organic veggie operation with a side of berries, herbs, and dreams. We are ecstatic to begin our own flight into feeding and nurturing our community.

We want to feed people, to come together around food, and work towards a more inspiring, resilient food system. Food (growing, eating, sharing) is joy; and we want to make that so for more people.
