FAT LOON emerged from a shared dream and a fishing trip. As we canoed past loons in the Adirondacks, our dreams of starting a farm at ages 21/22 began to feel a bit more real. We didn’t catch much, but we brought our ideas to shore, back home, onto paper, and into the ground - making fat loon farm a reality in september of 2024.

Marley is a young farmer/organizer/lady from a woodsy corner of CT. She has a background in social work and has been working on farms in CT, VT, and Quebec since she was a teenager. She loves observing the magic of seeds and is excited to learn, teach, and share skills and abundance through the Fat Loon community. When she's not farming, you can find her lounging by the river, boogeying and laughing with her loved ones, petting animals, or writing poems.

Zoey is a young farmer from St Louis, Missouri. She started her farming journey as a WWOOFer and has been studying agriculture since. She is a lifelong student of farming and is excited to dive into the business side of owning a farm. She loves a tomato with some flavor, and is passionate about pest management, community, and cooking a good meal. When she's not farming, you can probably find her whipping up a nice dinner for her friends, fishing, or chatting with folks in the community.

We're Marley and Zoey, and we met working together at the Farm at VYCC. We quickly bonded as loonatics about farming, our shared dreams of farm ownership, and drive to make that a reality. Thus ensued months of working with each other, our community, and with land owners to lease land and start this farm. Thank you deeply to all the incredible people who have helped make owning and operating this magical farm possible.
